I'm proud to say that I've created a really great side table.

The key point is that the carving of the tabletop to limit its use gives the product a sense of simplicity. The middle tabletop and the four surrounding legs are joined together with a half-edge, making it very strong despite the small number of parts. The organic, hand-carved tabletop and the straight, thin, simple frame are a perfect match.

The idea to carve the tabletop came from a conversation between Matsuyama (nicknamed Eve), the Aoyama branch manager, and a customer. We used that idea to create a design, and then entrusted the production to our craftsman, Hisada (nicknamed Hakase). It was Hakase's first time assisting me, and it was no easy job, requiring both skill and sensitivity to process and carve out the fine angles, but he did a faithful job, typical of him.

This side table, born from this process, turned out to be even better than I had imagined. I am happy to see the young talent steadily growing.
