During lunch, I received a call from my wife, the store manager who runs our direct store, KOMAshop.

"I was thinking of a sofa that was simple but had the individuality that only a handmade piece could have, and that could be custom-sized and arranged in a variety of ways."

He's going to say something difficult again.
It's simple but has character.
That is exactly what I have been pursuing as a furniture maker.
The more experience you gain and the better you become, the further away it feels.

That's why I'm struggling... I thought to myself, swallowing my words.
"Yes, I understand," I reply.

It's a long journey from there. You can't just think "Okay!" and immediately come up with an idea.
The process begins with keeping the idea in your mind, like planting seeds in a field.
There are always more than 50 seeds growing in the garden in my head.
This includes not only furniture structure and design, but also company management and corporate planning.

Some have no sign of sprouting yet, others look like they will grow big but it will take time.
There are many buds that are about to bloom, and many that will wither and disappear without ever blooming.

When the buds suddenly appear, they are exposed to sunlight, watered, and allowed to grow until they can, but they still do not flower.
Then, two or three more sprouts will appear. I will try to grow them again until they are viable.
Oh, there are some buds that look like they're about to open. Oh, this one died halfway through.
It feels like tilling a field every day, taking care of flowers and plants that may bloom at any time.

The sofa grew much faster than expected, and flowered in about six months.

The frame has a simple structure with straight components, making it easy to accommodate custom sizes.
The upper board is wide enough to hold a cup, and is carved with a plane to make it soft and fluffy.
These cushions are easy to maintain and offer a variety of seating options, and can be ordered in custom colors.
Depending on the arrangement, it can accommodate up to 10 people.

It's simple but has an understated personality.
I have created what I think is a finished product.
