Until now, sofa seats have been designed to reduce strain on the lower back, with cushioning that is soft at first but provides firm support. This time, however, we experimented to see if we could create something that would sink in a bit but then provide firm support for the lower back halfway through.

First, we divided the material inside the cushion into four layers, from soft to hard, and proceeded by repeatedly changing the balance of each layer's thickness and hardness.

The result is a sofa that looks plump but is comfortable to sit on.
