This special edition "cocoda chair" is a flagship chair that represents KOMA 's concept of "creating products that fulfill the quality and beauty of one-of-a-kind works," and is produced through model changes whenever the company is satisfied that it has created something better than its previous model .

When I started my training as a furniture craftsman, I decided to draw 10 idea sketches every day. As I got older, I gained more knowledge and experience, and quality became more important than quantity, so although I draw fewer sketches, I still continue to do so every day. After 20 years, it has become as natural an activity as eating a meal. Only a small portion of those sketches are turned into blueprints, some of those are made into prototypes, and some of those are then turned into actual products. In this way, I sketch every day, turn them into blueprints several times a week, and make several prototypes per month, but only a few products are produced each year.
The cocoda chair is an especially high hurdle. It's billed as a flagship product, after all. It's a stage where I can show my best performance as a furniture craftsman, a designer, and as the representative of KOMA. It's also a ring where I can go head-to-head with my past self. No matter how many prototypes I make, I can't always surpass my previous work. While there's no doubt that my experience and skills grow with each passing year, it seems there's another factor at play. It's a balance of passion and the like with skill and experience, or perhaps timing. This is a chair I've been creating constantly, searching for that moment, like the hour, minute, and second hands of a clock all lined up perfectly at midnight.
