This chair is a flagship product that embodies KOMA's concept of "creating products that fulfill the quality and beauty of one-of-a-kind pieces," and has been produced since 2010, undergoing model changes whenever the company is satisfied that it has created something superior to its predecessor.A low version is also available, with arms that can be stored under a KOMA dining table.

When I began my training as a furniture craftsman, I resolved to sketch 10 ideas every day. As I grew older, I gained more knowledge and experience, and quality became more important than quantity. Although I draw fewer sketches, I still do it every day. After 20 years, it's become as natural an activity as making a living. Only a small portion of those sketches are turned into blueprints, some of those are made into prototypes, and some of those are finally made into actual products. I sketch every day, turn them into blueprints several times a week, and create several prototypes per month, but only a few products are produced each year. The cocoda chair is particularly challenging. It's billed as a flagship product, so it's a stage where I can show my best performance as a furniture craftsman, designer, and representative of KOMA, and also a ring where I can go head-to-head with my past self. No matter how many prototypes I make, I rarely manage to surpass my previous work. While my experience and skills undoubtedly improve with each passing year, it seems there are other factors at play as well. It's a balance of passion and that sort of thing with skill and experience, or perhaps timing... I'm always making chairs in search of that moment, like when the hour, minute, and second hands of a clock line up perfectly at midnight.
