One day, an editor interviewing me for a magazine said he wanted a stool for his home entrance.

Since the purpose is clearly defined, the design concentrates all entryway functions into the smallest possible footprint.

For putting on shoes more comfortably, the seat height is set lower than a standard stool at 380 mm (the legs can be further shortened upon request).

A 120 mm–high grip is integrated to assist standing up after putting on shoes.

The 300 mm–deep seat opens upward, revealing hidden storage for shoe care tools and maintenance essentials.

The grip and legs are sculpted from solid wood using traditional japanese carving technique with chisels, creating a seamless and softly unified form.
The seat is shaped entirely by hand with a kanna plane, resulting in a compact stool that embodies KOMA’s attention to detail in every element.
