市場には出回らない家具工房ならではの木材から、希少な銘木までご希望の樹種にお応えいたします。

Variety of wooden materials are available upon your requests ranging from exotic woods to particular parts of timber which cannot be traded in the market.

希少・銘木材
Precious and/or Exotic Woods

黒柿、黒檀、紫檀、神代木、玉杢などに代表される入手が困難な希少な銘木を取り揃えています。在庫限りというものも多くあり一期一会の出会いをお楽しみください。また、ご希望の樹種によるオーダーメイドにもお答えしております。お気軽にご相談ください。

We would be able to offer precious exotic woods including but not limited to Japanese persimmon, Ebony, Rose wood, Soil embedded Yaku cedar, Japanese zelkova with o overlapped moire pattem. Many of them are limited to the existing Inventory, thus, we hope you would enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. We also would like to offer tailor made products with your choice of wooden materials.

高級木材　希少部位
Exotic Woods Exclusive Parts

食材に例えるなら一頭の牛から数グラムしか得られない希少部位と同じように、10ｍの木材の中で、ほんの数㎝に現れる希少な木目です。一般市場に流通することがなく入手することはできません。多くの木材を扱っている家具工房だから採取することが出来る一期一会の希少部位です。

We would offer exotic woody textures only several cm2 available in a 10m length of timber, something like a couple of hundreds grams worth of exclusive cuts off a whole cow. Those kinds of exclusive parts would not be traded in the market, thus, almost impossible to acquire. KOMA, as a workshop of furniture which buys whole timbers, would be able to find exclusively exotic parts of timbers which will never be reproduced.

【KOMA bespoke caseの特徴】

□木目合わせ

それぞれの部材を並べて取ることで木目が繋がり、木が持つ自然の美しさを最大限に活かすよう細心の注意を払って、熟練の職人の美意識と技で一つ一つこだわって木目を合わせています。

Experienced craftsmen who have tirelessly sharpen techniques and sense of beauty, match grains paying extreme care in order to bring out of natural beauty of wooden materials and smooth joints through multiple times of rearranging of parts.

□三方留め

天板、側板、前板の組手を全て45°で組むことで木目が途切れず仕上がりが美しく、強度も高く経年でも継目のズレが出にくいなどの様々なメリットがあります。多くの手間が掛る難易度の高い技法です。

All joints of top plates, side plates, front plates are connected with 45° angle, which prevents grains from
disconnect, thus, enables the beautiful finish. There are many benefits including but not limited to high-strength, smaller possibility for out of alignment due to aging. However, it requires a lot of work with high quality of skilled technique.

□組み立て

三方留めの組み立ては手仕事でなくては叶えられない繊細な作業です。

上箱と下箱で数十個のシャコマンやハタガネといった木材を締め付ける専用の道具を使い、その一つ一つのほんの少しの力加減で狂ってしまう難しい工程です。

The assembly of three way miter joints can only be done by delicate manual works.
The upper box and the lower box are combined with dozen of Japanese clamps and Japanese c type clamps. it is very difficult process which cannot be completed without perfect balance pressures of those tools.

□サネ加工

三方留めで組んだ角に補強として0.5㎜の木材を差し込みます。

これにより強度を増し、手仕事ならではの美しい意匠が現れます。

We reinforce three way miter joint with 0.5mm thick rabbets, which strengthen products without sacrificing beautiful details of design.

□仕上げ/塗装

鉋やサンドペーパーで磨き込み、木目を引き立て木の美しさとを最大限に引き出します。オイル塗装の前に下地の目止め処理をすることで、輪染みなどになりづらく驚くほど滑らかな木の肌触りが得られます。

※木の美しさや肌触りが損なわれるため、ウレタン塗装や着色などは行いません。

We would bring out the maximum of beauty of grains polishing with capers and sand paper. Though filling of base surfaces, incredibly smooth and pleasant feel texture would be achieved without ring stains or others.

□隠し蝶番

箱を閉じた際の後ろ側に蝶番が見えません。

箱の内部は内装を施すため、どこから見ても金具が見えずスッキリとした箱のデザインと木目の美しさを損ないません。

Any parts of hinges are not seen when boxes are closed.
Given interior desolations in boxes which conceal metal parts, simple design of boxes and the beauty of grain is unspoiled.
